Life, Grief & Co. was founded by Kristen and KB out of a shared recognition of an unmet need—and a deep desire to help fill it. Both bring lived experience with grief and mental health, alongside professional expertise, and are committed to using those perspectives to support others with care and compassion.
Kristen and KB met while working together in the Organ, Tissue, and Eye Donation field as Family Services Coordinators, where their shared passion for supporting donor families and prioritizing mental wellbeing quickly created a strong connection. What began as conversations and social media spaces to openly discuss grief, mental health, and donation has grown into something far more expansive and impactful.
At the heart of our work is a belief in honest conversation, community care, and creating spaces where people feel safe to show up as they are. We are honored to offer our skills, knowledge, and experience in support of individuals, families, professionals, and organizations navigating loss and emotionally complex work.

Kristen Tomlinson
Certified Grief Counselor / Certified End-of-Life Specialist / Certified Tissue Banking Specialist
Kristen is a Certified Grief Counselor and Certified End-of-Life Specialist who has spent the last ten years working in mental health, counseling, and coaching for adults, teens and kids. Her passion for helping those who are struggling started at a young age when she went with her grandfather (who was a pastor) to support the members of his congregation in hospice care. Then at the age of 17, she lost a dear friend to cancer and this really set the trajectory of her life on a path that she could have never imagined. On top of her work in Organ, Tissue & Eye Donation, Kristen has also spent time as a Mental Health Peer Support & Grief Coach. As one of the co-founders of Life, Grief & Co. Kristen provides end-of-life services, one-on-one mentorship, leads workshops about mental health and grief, & creates content and educational material to share with followers on social media.
Kristen's specialties include: end-of-life services, working with teenagers, supporting parents/caregivers of kids/teens going through a death or mental health struggles, LGBTQIA+ support, knowledge of organ/tissue/eye donation, support of those in helping professions and first responders, experience as a military spouse, motherhood, late diagnosis neurodivergence and chronic illness, and deconstructing/reconstructing faith.

Katie (KB) Witham
Certified Grief Counselor
KB is a Certified Grief Counselor and has spent the last eight years working in crisis intervention, suicide prevention, grief counseling and as a grief educator. KB got her start in the mental health field after experiencing a loss thousands of miles away from her support system. After digging herself out of this dark space she never wanted anyone to feel alone when going through a crisis and began volunteering at a crisis center, providing help to those in crisis and having suicidal ideations. This experience then led her into the organ donation career field where she took her crisis interventionist skills and used them in hospitals to provide hope to families who wanted a light at the end of a tragic loss by saying yes to organ, tissue and eye donation. KB currently works as a Family Aftercare Coordinator at an organ procurement organization.
KB’s specialities include: working with teenagers and adults in crisis and educating their support system on ways to help the person in crisis, knowledge of organ/tissue/eye donation, complex grief that follows a loved one being an organ donor, healthcare workers experiencing burnout, compassion fatigue, experience as a military spouse, motherhood, divorce, miscarriage.
